Chicago Legal Trek

Building a diverse pipeline of talent for the legal professio

A collaboration between the
Chicago Committee and Scholarship Chicago

 Who We Are

The Chicago Committee is a collective of the 46 largest law firms in Chicago, which has worked to advance racial and ethnic diversity in the Chicago legal community for over 20 years.  This is achieved through a variety of programming, including an ongoing and increasing commitment to inspiring and preparing diverse students to enter the legal profession.

Scholarship Chicago reaches into every public, private and parochial high school in Chicago to enroll broadly diverse and mainly first generation students in a 5-year program - from the senior year of high school through college graduation - aimed at helping them rise to their full competitive potential.

The Collaboration

The long terms goals of Chicago LegalTrek collaboration are multi-fold:

(1) to provide a select group of Chicago Scholars with the inspiration, information, mentorship, network, and academic support required to be successful in the field of law;

(2) to maximize the core competencies of each other's organization in order to ensure the success of the Scholars in college and law school; and

(3) to create a legal community movement that builds upon - not duplicates - the work of existing organizations and maximizes resources to achieve shared goals
