ShoreBank, the first and leading community development and environmental banking company in the United States, recognizes the benefit of education as an economic development tool.  ShoreBank has made an $8,000,000/ 30-year scholarship commitment to provide an opportunity for residents in our communities in the Chicagoland area to be full participants in tomorrow's economy.  To date, ShoreBank has invested $743,000 in 177 awards to 97 scholars.

ShoreBank, selects high school students at the end of their junior year so that, in partnership with Scholarship Chicago, volunteers and staff can assist its scholars during their senior year as they prepare for college.  Once in college, students apply each year for continued funding.  Scholarships are in the $3,000 range and the funds, which are deposited into the student's account at school, may be used for tuition, room board, books or fees.
