Iveta Bakalova

Walter Payton College Prep '08, Georgetown University - Class of 2012

At age eight, Iveta Bakalova arrived in Chicago knowing only four words of English, but with an abundance of determination to learn the language. Six months later she was fluent, and ten years later she is graduating near the top of her class at Walter Payton Prep with a 4.8 GPA. Iveta's teachers rave about her amazing work ethic, a characteristic she hopes to put to use in the future as an environmental lawyer
