Blanca Sandoval

Single-handedly helping her mother battle hepatitis and breast cancer took a major toll on Blanca Sandoval. It hurt her physically, emotionally and academically. When her mother told her that she would be okay and to stop sacrificing on her behalf, Blanca took the words to heart and started to make a drastic turnaround. Her grades improved, she started writing poetry again and was accepted into the Daniel Murphy Scholarship program. Now she is ready to attend college and focus on becoming a psychiatrist some day.
