Mentoring
The College Bound program utilizes a three-tier
mentoring system for all its students.
College Consultant Mentors
In the first tier, students are paired with individuals from the local community. These individuals serve as College Consultant mentors and assist our students in selecting and applying to schools that best fit their needs. They also help students handle the financial aid process and make the final decisions on their acceptance offers.
Peer Mentors
In the second tier, freshman and sophomore students are paired with a peer mentor from their college or a nearby college. These peer mentors are upperclass students from within the College Bound program and they help the freshmen and sophomores make a successful transition into college. The ultimate goal of the peer mentors is to help young students feel more comfortable on campus in an effort to ensure they remain in school and graduate.
In the third tier, students who once benefited from the peer mentor program become peer mentors themselves. At the same time, they reconnect with community members who serve as their career network mentors by offering informational interviews, job shadowing opportunities, and internships. These mentors help our students enter the working world as young, confident professionals.
Career Network Mentors
In the third tier, students who once benefited from the peer mentor program become peer mentors themselves. At the same time, they reconnect with community members who serve as their career network mentors by offering informational interviews, job shadowing opportunities, and internships. These mentors help our students enter the working world as young, confident professionals.
