Scholarship Chicago is pleased to partner with Chicago United to help close the gap between race and business. Chicago United is at the forefront of identifying and celebrating diversity. The Business Leaders of Color award honors a diverse group of corporate executives who are also civic leaders with a demonstrated commitment to public service.
Scholarship Chicago and Chicago United have joined forces to create an exciting new link between the diverse talent of its young scholars and BLC professionals. As part of an expanding program, Chicago United is creating curriculum for Chicago students based on the BLC awards. The goal is to model success, integrity, hard work and determination among our students by sharing the stories of the BLC.
As part of this initiative, BLC will be providing paid summer internships for our scholars. Summer internships are the fuel that helps our scholars cross the finish line and earn their degrees. Summer internships provide much-needed financial support. As importantly, they provide opportunities for our scholars to gain invaluable experience by working with a diverse group of professional role models. Summer internships also help level the playing field for our scholars, most of whom are the first in their families to attend college and enter professional careers.
