My Name: Santosh Raju

College/Major:  Carleton College; Economics and/or Religion Major, Class of 2008

Favorite Class/Activity:  Introduction to Christianity for Religion and Economics of the European Union for Economics.  I also enjoyed Introduction to Poetry, and Introduction to Religion.  My favorite activity is to play basketball, hip-hop dance and socialize with amazing Carleton students.

Most memorable college experience to date:  There are too many to list.  One of them was last spring when I was selected to be the MC for Carleton's International Festival.

Favorite way to relax:  I love listening to music and watching movies to relax, and forgetting about life's problems.

Favorite book:  No outright favorite book.  But Ritual Theory Ritual Practice, Hunger,
White Teeth, and Nostromo are some of my favorite books.

My dream profession:  To practice international law (at least that is on my mind right now).  I basically want to do something that involves international relations and globalization.

Future plans:  My immediate future plan is to go abroad and intern in an advertising or marketing agency.  I have plans to study abroad in the fall of 2006 as welll.

Key insight to college freshmen:  I would advise to not restrict yourself from the many possible career choices in life and to always think high and continue to raise your standards, because to me, life asks you to move forward and never look back.

My hero:  I don't have a particular hero that I idealize because I believe that every human needs to establish their own identity without trying to be like someone else.  However, I do admire everyone who is able to break the social and financial barriers and accomplish their goals and do wonders in the world.
