Serving in leadership roles on the Executive Committee and as Vice President & Secretary, Ms. Garvey is a driving force behind Scholarship Chicago’s community outreach programs, including our newest initiative Women of Influence in recognition that over 60% of all scholarships awarded by Scholarship Chicago are to young college bound women.
Sarah Nava Garvey, recently retired from her position of Vice President of State & Local Government Relations for Boeing. Previously she served as Director of Taxes at Boeing. Prior to joining Boeing, Ms. Garvey was a vice president of taxes for Navistar, where she had responsibility for worldwide tax matters of the corporation and its subsidiaries. She also held responsibility for strategic transactions and planning. Prior to that experience, Sarah had divisional responsibility for taxes at Nalco Chemical Company, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Sarah holds a Master in Tax Administration with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.B.A. University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. She is also a board member of First Bank of the Americas, a community bank serving the Mexican-American population located in Little Village and Pilsen. She is also a 1996 – 1997 Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago, and a Trustee of the Brookfield Zoo.
